Last week, I had the privilege to meet with an energy coach who had recently received one of The Expressory’s gifts and was curious to learn more. We set up a time for a conversation after she submitted her feedback on the overall experience. I was so intrigued that someone would take the time to offer feedback in such detail on different aspects of the gift and wanted to hear more. What was most interesting was the description she provided:
“As I opened it, I appreciated the quality, attention to detail, and the personal touch! The overall experience calibrated energetically at A+.”
“Calibrated energetically.” That was the interesting part. I had to hear more.
As I shared the evolution of the company with her, I could tell that she absolutely understood the need we fulfill in the market. But more than that, she understands why. This is something I’ve still been learning, given this wasn’t the original design of the business I started.
She shared with me that we all serve just one client in this world, and that is human nature. Once we can understand human nature and what it wants, we can finally connect.
And that’s it. That’s why the need for relationship building is so imperative right now.
Building Authentic Relationships
Have you noticed just how surface-level our relationships have become in this technology & device-driven world? Studies are showing that our teens would much rather stay home and surf their phones on a Friday night, rather than go out and socialize. And heaven forbid anyone picks up the phone to have a conversation anymore!
Humans are social by nature. At our core, we crave human relationships. And yet today, we’re depriving ourselves of this very thing. In his book "Rise and Grind", Daymond John says, “When we stop reaching out and touching, we lose touch”. It’s the very thing that is happening in all aspects of life right now.
And for business owners, that spells trouble. Successful small businesses are built on relationships. They always have been. If we continue to let this erode and we don’t give it our attention now, we will not be in business much longer. Customers are telling us what they want. They want to be acknowledged in a personal way. And it’s time to start acting on that. Time to start getting back to basic relationship building.
Start Building Relationships in Two Steps
What two actions could you take today, or this week, to make an impact on the relationships that drive your company? Here are two ideas for you to do!
Idea 1: Why not reach out to 5 contacts you haven’t heard from in a while? Write them a personal message that showcases something you remember about the last time you connected. The simple surprise of your message will be enough to drive some engagement.
Idea 2: Who are 5 people that you could thank this week? Sometimes, acknowledgment of something perceived to be insignificant can make a lasting impression.
Start developing remarkable relationships and grow your business. Do you need support building authentic relationships? We can help.
