I still have the handwritten thank you card from my 6th grade science teacher when he retired. I saved it because it was such an unexpected acknowledgement of how proud he was of my accomplishments. Also in that card, he shared some advice and let me know that he felt I would be successful.
I also have a handwritten thank you note from the first person I ever managed during my corporate days. Her words touched me so and it was nice to know that I had made some small difference in her experience. And I still have the leadership book that my favorite manager (many years later now my husband) gave me when he moved. In it, he offered me some great insight and noted that he looked forward to working for me one day.
I have kept boxes of these remarkable moments and sentiments captured on paper. And I know I’m not alone. Since starting The Expressory, countless people have opened up to me and graciously told their stories about the cards/notes that they have saved and the messages written within them and the tremendous impact they have had. I believe this quote sums up what made those messages so valuable.
“Write what would should not be forgotten.”-Isabel Allende
If I think back to the cards that I have written they all share a common denominator : I wrote something that I did not want to go left unsaid.
In my relatively new role as an Expression Experience Designer, I often have business owners tell me that they struggle with knowing the right thing to say when it comes to sending personal messages of gratitude, appreciation or other appropriate expressions to their clients. This is what we do best at here at The Expressory, taking thoughts, emotions, feelings and putting them into words, packaging them beautifully and sending them off to wow. Let us help you so you to can be sure to make someone’s day memorable with the simple gift of words.
